The Autour de Marguerite association is a collective of neighbours who want to promote conviviality around Marguerite Square. Our four main objectives are:
We’re developing a community garden that adheres to the principles of sustainable development so that people can discover or rediscover the skills, knowledge and pleasures of gardening. Our action is structured around three axes:
Respect for people
Local conviviality: street festivities, events, exhibitions, bookboxes, shared activities, etc.
Involving isolated people in daily gardening activities
Exchanges with local schools
Sponsorship of fruit trees for children
Exchanges between local residents and users of the nearby sports ground
Multicultural dimension and multilingual communication
Promotion of quality food: fruit and vegetables accessible or distributed
Relations with staff from the City of Brussels and other sister associations
Respect for the environment
Introducing biodiversity
Creating a vegetable garden, orchard and gourmet garden in the heart of the European Quarter
Choosing varieties that are hardy or adapted to climate change
Refusing to use pesticides
Caring for birds and insects
Rational water management
Active promotion of neighbourhood cleanliness
Respect for the local business model
Actions supported by the local and regional authorities
No sale of fruit or vegetables, the aim being to share and donate
For purchases, priority will be given to local sustainable businesses
